Recorder
Captures the screen, the webcam, and the mic at the same time. Picture-in-picture out of the box. Hotkey-driven so a 10-year-old can hit record and go.
Record, edit, and ship videos in one app. Built for teens. Local-only, one-time price, no accounts, no data collected.
Captures the screen, the webcam, and the mic at the same time. Picture-in-picture out of the box. Hotkey-driven so a 10-year-old can hit record and go.
A real multi-track timeline — video, webcam, titles, music. Trim, split, fade, transitions. Sized down from Premiere, not a TikTok auto-cutter.
Drop in photos, pick a song, get a finished slideshow. Beat-matched cuts, gentle Ken-Burns, captions. The fastest birthday-recap your kid will ever make.
In mid-2025, CapCut updated its Terms of Service to grant ByteDance a perpetual, royalty-free license to anything users upload. It's a real product and a real choice. Here's the choice we made instead.
CapCut is a great product that made a choice these parents don't want for their kid. We mention it once, here.
No login. No backdoor. No surprise upload to fix tomorrow. The settings you'd want, where you'd expect them.
Lock the export folder, in-app purchases, and account screens behind a 4-digit PIN. Your kid can edit. They can't tour the menus you set.
Up to four profiles per install. Separate projects, separate exports, separate avatars. Big-sibling and little-sibling don't trip over each other's edits.
Hide the export-to-YouTube button entirely. Useful for a homework project, a school club, or any week you want the “ship it” button quietly off.
Recordings and projects live in ~/Movies/CreatorPilot. Nothing is sent to us. No silent telemetry, no “anonymous usage” ping, no exception.
Install and you get every Pro feature unlocked for two weeks — no card, no account. After that, the app keeps working with the free tier below. Buy any time to keep Pro permanently.
Both tiers: never uploads anything · no account · no telemetry · Mac + Windows.
No subscription. No tier ladder. No renewal email a year from now.
For one computer at home.
For everyone in the house.
Save $19 per extra device vs. buying Single five times.
Both plans: 14-day no-questions refund. Refund policy. Pay through Stripe. We never see your card.
In the order you'd ask them. Privacy first.
No. Recordings, projects, and exports stay on your computer. The app never sends your kid's footage anywhere. There is no “cloud sync” toggle to forget. The only thing that ever leaves the app is a license check at install time, against a Stripe-issued key.
14 days, no questions. Email hello@getcreatorpilot.com with your license key. We refund through Stripe within one business day. If it isn't a fit for your kid, take the refund.
Designed for ages 9–16. Younger kids can absolutely use the Recorder and Photo Story; the Studio editor is happiest in the hands of a 10+. There is no chat, no comments, no social layer of any kind, so the COPPA “is this safe” question is mostly “is your kid ready to sit and edit for 30 minutes.”
CapCut is a fine product. The two real differences: your kid's content stays on your computer, and there is no perpetual license clause for someone else to use what they make. We're a desktop app, not a cloud service. That's the whole pitch.
How to drag a clip and click Export. The Recorder is one button. The Studio editor's tutorial is six steps and runs the first time you open it. Most kids are exporting their first video inside an hour, even ones who have never edited before.
Both, same feature set, same file format. macOS 12+ on Apple Silicon or Intel. Windows 10/11 on x64. The Family plan covers a mix.
No. Updates are free, forever, on the version you bought. There is no “Pro” tier behind a paywall. There is no “v2” you'll be asked to repurchase. If we ever sunset the app we'll publish a final perpetual build that runs without our servers.
4 GB RAM, 2 GB free disk for install, any 2017-or-newer laptop will do. Export is faster on Apple Silicon and on machines with a modern GPU, but it's not required. 1080p H.264 export at up to 60fps.
I built CreatorPilot the weekend my 11-year-old asked me whether the app she was editing in “owned” her videos. I didn't have a good answer. I started writing one in code that night.
You're not the customer of an ad network here. You're the customer of a piece of software your family installs once. If we ever forget that, email me. I read it.
